A warming embrace with endless space to breathe, welcome to Kanari Evelyn. A calming retreat awaits, located in northern Victoria in the creekside town of Cohuna (approximately 275km north of Melbourne). This two-bedroom, two-bathroom home has been lovingly restored by owner and interior designer Kara McGlone, celebrating the 1980s aesthetic with modern touches throughout.

Upon arrival, you’ll observe the modest brown brick 80s inspired exterior with its eye-catching khaki green entry door. Inside, a considered interior unfolds with an appreciation for detail and colour bringing each space to life. The earthy palette of greens, clays, pinks and nudes, paired with natural timber, bold pattern and texture were purposefully chosen to allow you to immerse yourself in the fun, yet calming nature of the interior. The nude paint tones were used to not only complement the existing tones and warmth but also for its ability to soothe and comfort. During the renovation of this home, Kara was careful to ensure the quirky bones of the home were not diluted, instead highlighting these unique and colourful features with unexpected design.

With only a short 10-minute stroll to the local shops, the home is fortunate to have no direct neighbours on either side, so you can truly unwind in the serene vista. Soak up the view to the neighbouring farmland outside the large lounge, dining and kitchen windows. Afar you can see the clusters of gum trees on the horizon that surround the nearby waterway, the famous Gunbower Creek. Depending on the time of your stay, you may witness farming cattle, horses, as well as hay being baled. A true rural escape where time slows and memories are made.
