This home was an original 90's mass development build in dire need of a refresh.  The owners had aesthetics and practicality in mind and undertook a significant renovation.  The formal, separate dining room was removed and the kitchen was reoriented to make it a central hub for the family home as well as to make full use of the north-facing courtyard views.  With a love for entertaining and having primary-school aged kids, flow and function were critical. 

The client's love of simplicity, clean lines, and functionality were at the forefront of the brief. The black theme- embodied by feature charred timber walls and joinery is a bold contrast to the saturation of white walls, lower joinery, and engineered timber oak flooring to warm up the interior.  The clean lines and monochrome palette in the kitchen are softened by the curve in the extra thick stone island bench top. The textured floor and wall tiles in the bathrooms allow the eye to rest easy and take in the statement kit kat tiles on the feature walls. The understated brushed nickel tap ware throughout supports the consistent use of black and grey. Throughout the home a considered collection of furniture, artwork, decor and linen has been carefully curated as a playful yet relaxed counterpoint to the monochrome backdrop.
